7/3/10 The Lost Ark of the Covenant

The movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was a fantastically entertaining movie where Indiana Jones leads a quest for the Lost Ark of the Covenant and is almost beaten by the Nazis who are seeking the same artifact.

Fiction?  Yes, in part, but this race is being carried out as we speak because of the great power attributed to the Ark. Indeed it was said that no army could stand against Israel when they went into battle with the Ark of the Covenant on their side.  From Ethiopia to the Temple Mount people have been hunting for the Ark for centuries. Some have suggested that the Knights Templar spirited it off and have secreted it in some unknown hiding place.

Even now Islamic authorities will not allow anyone to search below the temple mount which they now claim as a sacred shrine.  They have more than one reason for not wanting anyone to find the Ark, namely because they know that if Israel had the Ark of the Covenant, then they would never be able to get rid of Israel which they want to do with all their being.

Now, Bible Scholars have for years perused the Bible and speculated about where the Ark may be.  However a little reading in a few books beside the Bible would tell them that it was hidden by King Josiah before the first temple was destroyed. The people of Israel had forsaken the Torah, God's Law and Covenant, with man and turned to evil ways worshipping idols and committing every known sinful act.  So Josiah knowing what would occur and that the Temple would be destroyed and that the Israelites would be carried off into slavery, hid the Ark lest it fall into the wrong hands.

Now, we skip ahead in time a few years to where Josiah's grandson, then King of Judah, was in power.  There are multiple accounts and the Bible says that the Grandson, Jehoiachin (also known as Mattaniah), was an evil king like his father. However, there are other texts that say he was holy and pious and in these texts he goes to the temple roof before the city is destroyed and taking all the keys of every chamber, he said, "Until now Thou didst consider us worthy of confidence , and Thou didst entrust Thy keys to us. Since Thou no longer dost esteem us trustworthy, here take back Thy keys." He was held to his word: a hand was stretched forth from heaven and it received the keys.

Of course there is another account that the High Priest threw the keys into the air and bid God take them back as the Temple was set on fire.  As you can guess, I prefer the story of Jehoiachin.

It is my contention that like grandson, Josiah the grandfather gave the Ark back to God and that it was removed to Mount Sinai where Moses received the tablets which were the Covenant and were put into the Ark. It was also where God, Himself, dwelt when He was with the Jews.

That is not the end of the story.  Would you like to find the Ark of the Covenant? Why?  Wouldn't it be nice to have the power of the Ark?  Sure it would.  And YOU can have that power. How?

Let me ask you yet another question, "Do you think the power came from the Acacia wood or the gold?"  "Do you want the Ark or the Power?" Personally, I want the Power and I am not afraid to admit it. Well, I already have the power and believe me there is enough to share, again and again.  Why would I give it away you ask?  Because that will only multiply the power.

You see the power of the Ark of the Covenant did not come from the Ark. It came from the Covenant which it contained and God with Whom the Covenant was made.

So, Dear Reader, if you will simply pick up the Covenant and obey the Torah and the laws therein you will have the Covenant and the Power. Now, only 15% of the Jews in Israel observe God's Law and have held off their enemies for decades. Can you imagine what they could do if they had just 90% obey God's Law.

I am sure that it is not a leap for you to understand that if you obey God's Law out of Love for Him, YOU ARE THE ARK and the Covenant is in your heart and is between you and God.  And for those who doubt this read John 4: "21Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
